I knew Lovis and worked closely with her for 16 years when I chaired the bicycle safety committee in Hartsville. I asked her to serve on the committee because she was a protector of trees, and I wanted to be sure that we had such an advocate on our committee. She was a faithful member and protected all of the healthy large oak trees in town. Along with her husband T. B. she served with distinction on the committee and leaves a rich legacy for the present and future generations.
