JANESVILLE--- Lowell W. Houge, age 85, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at Mercy Hospital. He was born in Edgerton, WI on August 19, 1923, the son of Richard B. and Edith M. (Davis) Houge. He graduated from Edgerton High School, and served in the Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1945. Lowell married Helen Armit on Dec. 31, 1946, in Edgerton, and they moved to Janesville in 1954. He worked as a carpenter for area builders until starting his own home construction business, which he ran until 1980. He was then employed by the Janesville School District as a carpenter until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the VFW. He was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed deer hunting with his friends. He is survived by his wife, Helen of Janesville; son, Steve (Doreen) Houge of Milton; 4 grandchildren: Kristopher and Brandon Houge, Angie Richardson and Laura (Ryan) Solledor; great grandchild, Ashley Richardson; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Houge of Edgerton and Anne Houge of Green Bay; brother-in-law, Robert Olstad of Edgerton; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda; and 2 brothers, Dale and Verne Houge. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at MILTON LAWNS MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL with Pastor Forest Wells officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at MILTON LAWNS MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL. Interment will be in Milton Lawns. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
