MORTON – Lowell I. Schroeder, 88, of Morton, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on October 26, 1935, in Jefferson, Iowa, to Irvin and Florence (Youngblood) Schroeder. Lowell married Susan Heinzel on July 5, 1958, in Lincoln, Ill. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Daryl Lu and one brother, Norman.
Surviving are his children, Stuart Schroeder of Morton and Charlotte Lu of San Diego, Cali.; three grandchildren, Sarah Morrow, Nicholas Schroeder and Kali Huber; seven great grandchildren, Addison, Parker, Jackson, Calvin, Vivian, Isaiah and Hank; brother, Marvin (Sandy) Schroeder of Springfield, Ill.; and sister, JoAnn Marlin of Lincoln, Ill.
He was a United States Army veteran.
Lowell worked in sales for W.W. Grainger in Peoria. He later sold real estate for Jim Maloof Realty, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of Tazewell County Republicans.
Lowell was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, where a Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, with Msgr. Gerald Ward officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, December 28, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Burial will be at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton, where military rites will be conducted.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
