Loy Jesse Eversole, born November 4, 1938 in Perry County, Kentucky, to the late Oscar & Eva Eversole, passed away surrounded by the love of the family he cherished above all else.

Loy honorably served in the United States Air Force before building a long and dedicated career with CSX Railroad. His love for the water eventually guided him to Hampton, Virginia, where he embraced his retirement near the ocean he enjoyed so deeply.

Loy was the definition of a man's man, strong, capable, and endlessly resourceful. He found joy in the outdoors, spending countless hours hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and gathering around the table for a good poker game. He believed in passing down practical wisdom, and he took great pride in teaching his grandchildren and those he loved, how to face everyday challenges, whether under the hood of a car or learning the importance of gun safety.

Known for his big heart and even bigger generosity, Loy was always the first to show up when someone needed help. He loved his family fiercely and expressed that love through moments both large and small, especially in the kitchen. His famous steak, fried potatoes, and biscuits and gravy became treasured traditions, made with the same warmth and care he poured into every part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Raynor, father, Oscar Eversole, mother, Eva Eversole, brother, Roy Eversole and sister Mona (Marvin) Mills.

Loy leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife, Mary Eversole, grandDaughter, Jessica Lee (Oscar), grandDaughter, Nichole "Nikki" Friedenberg, grandSon, Raymond "Eric" Raynor, great-grandchildren, Morgan Lee, Martine Lee, Myriya Lee, Izaya Lee and Ciarra Garland, and lots of nieces and nephews that he cherished.

Loy's legacy is one of loyalty, strength, and unwavering devotion to the people he loved. He leaves behind a family forever grateful for his guidance, his stories, his laughter, and the steady presence he provided.

A graveside service will be held 12 Noon, Friday, November 21, 2025 at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
