LuAnn A. Mescher, 89, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, surrounded by her family, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester. She was born on December 6, 1935, on the farm near Petersburg, the daughter of Alphonse and Antonette (Deppe) Wegmann.

On April 28, 1956, LuAnn was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Mescher at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg. Four children were born to this union. After their marriage, Bob and LuAnn moved to Dyersville for a year and then moved to a farm near Dundee for 11 years. The couple moved to a farm west of Edgewood where they lived for 47 years. They then moved to their home in Edgewood. Bob passed away in 2022.

LuAnn was a longtime member of St. Mark Catholic Church. She loved to play cards and read. LuAnn was always up for a spirited conversation. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved her candy bowl. LuAnn loved her family and cherished spending time with them.

Survivors include her four children, Randy (Vickie) Mescher of Edgewood, Pat (Marsha) Mescher of Dundee, Kathy Hansel of Edgewood, and Jeff Mescher of Winthrop; eight grandchildren, Tim, Mark, Jessie, Justin, Katie, Beth, Matt and Allie; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Wegmann of Farley; brother-in-law, Dick (Jean) Mescher of Dyersville; sister-in-law, Jeanette Mescher of Dyersville; and many nieces and nephews.

LuAnn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert "Bob" Mescher; and her siblings, Armella (Larry) Wieferich, Eileen (Jack) Meder, Dorothy (Art Esch and Emmet Pfeiler) Pfeiler, Harriet (Leon) Maiers, Alvin (Sally) Wegmann, Ambrose "Butch" (Pat) Wegmann, and John (Vickie) Wegmann.
