Luc Garvey Charles, affectionately known as 'Bob', was born on December 15, 1959, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to Lucienne (Duchein) Charles and the late Luc Charles. In 1975, following their mother two years prior, Luc came to America with his two sisters Rolande Charles and Carole Antoine. He completed his secondary education at Jefferson High School in Elizabeth, NJ.
In 1980, Luc became a member of Mount Olives Church of God. It was the next step in his journey with the Lord that started in his adolescence. There, he found the one who made his heart happy and the love of his life, Jumeneusse. After three years of courtship filled with prayer, respect and love, the two were married in 1988. In 2003, their daughter, Sophonie Charles made their family complete.
Though Luc had several jobs throughout his life, he spent most of his life as a charter bus driver for multiple companies; a job that he enjoyed and that allowed him to serve his community.
Luc enjoyed taking pictures and sitting in parks admiring nature. He also enjoyed time with family. In the 90's, one could frequently find him picking up his young nieces and nephews and being intentional about being their 'Monoc', taking them around town and having them be his muse as he took beautiful photos in the park.
Luc always loved to go back to Haiti and hoped to one day retire there. However, on July 11, 2025, Luc was called home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his loving wife Jumeneusse, daughter Sophonie, mother Lucienne, two sisters Rolande and Carole: nieces and nephews, Natalie, Dorothy, Beatrice, Carline, Claudy, Christian, Irvin, and Irva. He also leaves behind a host of brothers and sisters-in- love, cousins and great nieces and nephews. Luc Charles will be greatly missed; his laugh remembered and his youthful spirit treasured.
Fr. Bob te renmen pran foto ak chita nan pak yo pou admire lanati. Li te gen plezi pase tan ak fanmi I tou.
Nan ane 90 yo, li te konn al chèche ti neve ak ti nyès li yo; kòm si li te pran angajman pou li jwe wòl "Monnonk" yo: Li te konn flannen moute desann ak yo toupatou nan vil la, epi itilize yo kom enspirasyon pou pran bel foto nan pak ak yo.
Fr. Men vwala, jou 11 Jiyè 2025 la, li te resevwa apel pou l al jwenn Senyè a. Li kite deyè madanm li, Sè Jumenesse ki renmen l anpil, pitit fi I, Sophonie, manman l,
Lucienne; epi de sè li yo, Rolande ak Carole. Li kite tou neve ak nyès li yo: Natalie, Dorothy, Béatrice, Carline, Claudy, Christian, Irvin, ak Irva. Anplis, li kite yon foul frè ak sè nan lanmou, kouzen, nyès ak neve, granmoun ki te renmen l.
Anpil moun pral manke Frè Luc Charles. Ri l yo ap toujou sonnen nan kè nou.
