With heavy hearts, the passing of our beloved Luciano Torrez, is announced, who was surrounded by his last two living sisters, Polly Contreras and Mary Franco, at the time of his death on Friday, August 8, 2025. Luciano Torrez was born on May 12, 1943, to George and Teresita Torrez of Mountainair, NM. He was the second youngest of eleven children.

Luciano graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1962. He was drafted in 1964; however, instead of serving the United States Army, he signed up into the Fort Morgan National Guard Artillery where he served for 6 years. Most of his career consisted of highway construction as a heavy equipment operator for approximately 35 years. His highway construction job started in Colorado and continued in Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. In Montana, he met Pam Brummer, married in 1984 and was married for 8 years.

After Luciano retired from the construction work, he returned to Fort Morgan and continued working for Teague Diversified Feed Lot for 20 years.

Luciano was an active member of St. Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan CO and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, Local Chapter 2742, where he embodied the principles of patriotism and service to his country and the Church.

Luciano did not have any children; however, he had a special gift for making children feel loved and valued, and his presence brightened the lives of many including his nephews, nieces, stepchildren and step grandchildren.

Luciano's warmth, generosity, and unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone he knew including all his friends in Colorado and close friendships he had maintained in Montana. He was a beloved soul who touched many lives with his compassion and generosity and always put others before himself. He would even go as far as helping a stranger off the street. One of our favorite stories was when his truck was stolen a few years ago and later discovered by the police; however, Luciano being the loving and generous man he is, gave the title and truck to the perpetrator.

Survivors include his two living sisters, Mary Franco of Fort Morgan CO (Husband – Victor Franco), Polly Contreras of Fort Morgan CO and adopted nephew, Lonnie Torrez of Albuquerque NM. Survivors also included stepchildren, Kelly VanVoast of Havre Montana, Scott Brummer of Chinook Montana and special friend, Mary Araujo of Fort Morgan CO.

He preceded in death by his parents, George and Teresita Torrez, sisters Lina Guzman and Eloisa Jimenez, and brothers, Mario Torrez, Benny Torrez, Margarito Torrez, Joe Torrez, George Jr. Torrez, and Gilbert Torrez.

Luciano leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and cherished friends.

To our brother, uncle, papa, and friend; we will always carry your memories in our hearts and hope that we can all follow your principles and teachings that will be treasured by many generations in our family to come. Via con Dios!

Thank you all for taking the time to pay your condolences to our beloved departed soul.
