Lucille Jean Buffinga

Mrs. Lucille Jean Buffinga, age 88, of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022. She was born February 16, 1934, in Grand Rapids, MI to Clifford J. and Frances E. (Utter) VanRyn. Lucille graduated from South High School in Grand Rapids with the class of 1952. She was a homemaker and married Lewis Buffinga. for 35 years Lucille taught Sunday School. She attended Calvary Church, Grandville Bible Church and later attended West Cannon Baptist Church. Lucille and her husband Lewis were very active in building and the remodeling of churches and parsonages. Lucille had accompanied her husband on many building projects. They had made many trips to Cortland Bible Club in Pitcher, NY. They also spearheaded, as founding members, the Tentmakers Bible Mission. Lucille and Lewis worked tirelessly to help spread the Word of God. She is survived by her daughter Karilyn (Robert) Reyes; two grandchildren, Megan Reyes and Jeffrey Reyes; one sister, Cheryl (Jim) Scheffler; sister-in-law, Sandy (Ken) Parker; brother-in-law Don (Joyce) Creswell; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lewis, sister Marilyn Honderd. The Graveside Funeral Service for Lucille will be conducted Wednesday December 28 at 1 p.m. at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with Pastor Roger Steele officiating. Interment will be next to Lewis in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
