LUCILLE PATRICIA CARTER (nee Worley) passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 81 on December 20, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Edward Carter, with whom she shared 57 wonderful years of marriage.
Lucille was the loving mother of La Vette Carter, Sylvia Carter-Naylor (husband Lloyd), Aaron Carter (wife Susan), Timothy Carter, Stephanie Carter and Michael Carter (wife Alexis); devoted grandmother of Briana Manuel, Ariana Carter, Deontae Carter, Timiya Carter, DeAundre Carter (Bella), Tyler Gibson, Grayson Carter and Logan Carter; cherished daughter of the late Willie Baker and Hattie Bowen; dear sister of the late Walter Worley and William Worley; dearest great-grandmother of Greyson and Braxton.
Lucille was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Willie Baker and Hattie Worley on March 17, 1944. She was the oldest of three children. Lucille studied with Jehovah’s Witnesses and dedicated herself to Jehovah. She was baptized as a symbol of that dedication on July 11, 1969, at the age of 25. Lucille served as a pioneer for many years and enjoyed traveling to different countries (Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Mexico), alongside her adoring husband, Charles Carter, to meet her spiritual brothers and sisters. She also enjoyed playing cards, singing, dancing, gardening, watching game shows, and listening to music, especially Luther Vandross.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Edward Carter; both of her parents; and her two dearly loved brothers, Walter Worley and William Worley, whom she affectionately called Papa and Piney. She loved to tell many amusing stories about their childhood antics.
She was recently preceded in death by her dear daughter-in-law, Deanica Carter. She leaves behind 6 nieces, 8 nephews, a multitude of great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many other dearly loved relatives, and all her countless Christian brothers and sisters.
