Lucille Crouch Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes - Delta Chapel on Dec. 6, 2024.
Lucille Florence Crouch passed away at her home on December 5, 2024 she was born September 30, 1935, in Lansing Michigan and lived there her entire 89 years. The youngest daughter of Clarence and Seraphine Daly. She graduated from J.W. Sexton High School in 1953. On February 5, 1955 she married Gerald H. Crouch (Jerry) and soon entered the workforce as a stay-at-home mother of 5 children. Other jobs would come much later in life, but while the kids were at home, she was at home.
While daughter, wife, mother, "Gramma", widow and "Great Gramma" were the stages of her life she is described by those who loved her as honest, direct, fiercely protective of family, organized, charitable, and a devoted friend. Lucille did not wear her emotions on her sleeve, she let her actions speak for her. When facing challenges, she met them head on and never pitied herself or complained about her circumstances. When her husband Jerry died at 49, she kept the business running until it sold, downsized her home and took on a full-time job. A pragmatic approach and without complaint, she independently kept moving forward and continued to find joy in her life.
Lucille was a Charter Member of St Gerard Church and member of their kitchen circle that prepared meals for funerals and other church activities. Lucille volunteered for Salvation Army, especially the toys for tot's toy distribution, for Sparrow Hospital in the surgical lounge at St. Lawrence, the St. Lawrence Gift Shop, she was Girl Scout Leader, and greeter at the airport and did many things for her children's activities while they were growing up.
Activities with friends were always a big part of her life. Lucille loved playing volleyball, bowling, parties at the pool, numerous camping trips with family and friends plus large family gatherings. She enjoyed time with the "New York Ladies", playing Dominoes, card clubs with new friends and people she knew most of her life. She also took pleasure in providing rides for those unable to drive themselves. A very proud and loyal grandmother she never missed a school activity or sporting event. Even if it meant driving to Boyne City for an evening performance.
Lucille is survived by son Mike Crouch, daughters Vickie Crouch and Denise (Kathy Long) Crouch, son Mark (Sherry) Crouch, son-in-law Anthony Bukrey; grandchildren Bree (Derek) Peters, Caleb (Liz) Crouch, Elliot (Taylor) Crouch, Mitch Crouch; great grandchildren Maddox Peters and Elena Crouch and family friend Jan Hite.
