Lucille Evelyn Leitko was born August 6, 1938 in Loebau, Texas, the daughter of Albert Beisert and Martha (Kasper) Beisert Burrier. She passed away Friday, September 5, 2025 at the age of 87. Her funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dime Box, Texas with Rev. Bernard J. Schey officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Dime Box. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. At Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau, Lucille was baptized on August 21, 1938, and confirmed on May 13, 1951, both officiated by Pastor Hartfield. Her confirmation verse was 2 Peter 3:18, "Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ". At the young age of 17, Lucille met the love of her life, Donald. They were married at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau, also officiated by Rev Hartfield. On March 5, 2025, they celebrated 70 years of marriage. Lucille and Donald were truly lifelong partners in every sense of the word. Coming from a humble background, in the early years before marriage, Lucille worked at then-iconic establishments such as The Sweet Shop and Zoch's Laundromat in Giddings. After marriage, when Lucille and Donald moved to Houston where they raised their family of three children, she worked at another renowned company, Dixie Cone, and later worked as a cook for the school district. Lucille's additional unpaid job was bookkeeper (aka CFO) for Leitko and Son's Drywall where she managed all financial affairs for the company. All the guys certainly looked forward to receiving their Friday pay-checks from Lucille. As a homemaker, Lucille was an involved mom helping out with cookie and candy sales where the kids participated. After their children were grown, Lucille and Donald moved back to Dime Box as quickly as they could to enjoy the 'country' life. Lucille became a key employee at the Dime Box Meat Market where she worked for 35+ years. And after working-hours, she would help her husband with their farm work, which included hauling hay and all financial aspects of the business. You could not find a person with a better work ethic than Lucille. Lucille and Donald were devoted members and dedicated to attending Sunday services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dime Box. Lucille's favorite past-time was playing 42-dominoes. One of her stand-out moments was when she and her partner, Mildred Horack, won first place in the SPJST state domino tournament. They never lost a game, she said. And she has the trophy to prove it. More recently, her passion for dominoes was played out at the monthly domino tournaments at Old Loebau Store. Maybe now someone else can have a chance to win first place! She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Beisert and Martha Beisert Burrier; her stepfather, Charles Burrier; her son, Lee Leitko; two brothers, Edmund Beisert & his wife, Lillian and Hilbert Beisert; two sisters, Maryann Gish & her husband, Jack and Betty Jean Jackson & her husband, Doug, and a brother-in-law, Curtis Leitko & his wife, Verneal. Lucille is survived by her husband, Donald Leitko of Dime Box; two daughters, Debbie Harrison & her husband, Eric of Austin and Conni Korth of Dime Box; two grandchildren, Dale Korth & his wife, Lauren of Dripping Springs and Taylor Teeters & her husband, Mitch of Round Rock; four great grandchildren, Evan, Presley, and Cole Korth and Josephine Teeters; one brother, Henry Beisert of Cypress; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Beisert and Vernell Keating & her husband, Richard; one brother-in-law, Alan Leitko & his wife, Miriam; Ricky Korth and Greg Thomas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In her final days, Lucille was very specific of who she wanted as her pallbearers, Alvin Hannes, Landon Beisert, Jim Sheperd, Chad Kunkel, Chance Fritsche and Jacob Baren. Many thanks to these guys for honoring Lucille in this way. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Dime Box or to Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau.
