Lucille M. Jarvis Maynard, 90, of Sissonville, passed away after a short illness at home, August 3, 2009. She was surrounded by family members. She and her husband were owners and operators of Maynard’s Pet Shop in downtown Charleston for more than 40 years. She was an original member of The Silver Haired Legislators, and from the beginning her main focus was in home care of the frail elderly, now known as the Lighthouse Program. She was the first female speaker of the House for the Silver Haired Legislators, and was pleased to see many programs for the elderly come to pass. Lucille was also a volunteer helper at Sissonville Elementary from 1985 to 1992, and was a member of the Sissonville Women’s Club. She was a “Hometown Hero.� She was preceded in death by her husband Albert L. Maynard; her parents, Ira A. and Lona Jarvis of Charleston; her sister, Ora Schlossel of Albany New York; her brother, Leo Jarvis of Charleston; and her grandson, Chris Teufel of Charleston. Surviving are her three Daughters, Kay Teufel and her husband Ron, of Charleston; Suzann Joos, of Kent, Ohio; and Pamela Chandler and her husband Phil, of Sissonville; special niece Nancy Lamartin and husband Neil of Virginia; grandchildren Paula Sharp and husband Terri, of Columbus Ohio; Pamela L. Harvey and husband Steve of Kent Ohio, Dawn Elliott and husband Mike of Saint Albans; Dr. Ron Teufel II and wife Angie of Charleston, South Carolina; Brock Chandler and wife Melanie of Sissonville; and Brett Chandler of Sissonville; great grandchildren, Justin and Bryce Harvey, of Kent Ohio; Ethan, Holden and Brennan Teufel, of Charleston, South Carolina, and Chase Chandler of Sissonville. The funeral service will be Thursday, August 6 at 1:00pm at Bartlett- Burdette-Cox Funeral Home, with Rev. Bruce Keeling officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston. Friends may call Thursday from 11:00pm to 1:00pm. Family will receive flowers or donation my be made to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W, Charleston WV 25302.
