Lucille Watkins Obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Lucille "Lucy" Peterson Watkins on February 11, 2025. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Lucy left us suddenly due to a medical condition. We find comfort in knowing that she departed on the same date as her late husband's birthday-a bittersweet reminder of their enduring love.

Lucy was a radiant soul whose warmth and kindness touched many. She was a nurturing force in our lives, always ready to support her family, lift our spirits, and celebrate our achievements.

Born to Dean F. and Bess Peterson, Lucy grew up in Logan, Utah, alongside her four siblings: Linda, Dean, Doris, and Nick. In her early 20s, she left Logan with her first husband, Cannon Randall, to support his military career and start a family. They were married for 13 years.

During her early career, Lucy was a successful real estate agent and broker, leading United California Realty in Apple Valley, CA. It was there that she met her second husband and love of her life, Cary Watkins, whom she married in 1993. After years of dedication to their careers, Lucy and Cary retired and returned to North Logan, embracing a new chapter filled with art, community, and cherished moments together.

A true champion of beauty in many forms, Lucy found joy in painting, fiber arts, gardening, music, and dance. Over the past 25 years, her exquisite fiber art pieces have been displayed in galleries and exhibitions, leaving an indelible mark on the local artist community. She and Cary also co-founded Art on the Lawn, a beloved mini-art festival that ran from 2004 to 2016. Her passion for creativity and connection enriched the lives of many and remains a treasured part of her legacy.

After Cary's passing, Lucy carried an unfillable void in her heart, but she remained the incredible mother and friend we knew her to be. Many tears were shed in his memory and creating art helped her through.

We take comfort at the thought that Lucy is now dancing in the clouds with Cary, celebrating their reunion. We love you Mom! Words can never express how deeply you will be missed.

Lucy is survived by her four siblings; her daughter Kate Randall; her son Carter Randall, his wife Melissa, and grandchildren Cannon, Lizzie, Gail, and Carolyn Randall. She is also survived by her stepsons Sean Watkins, Jeff Watkins (wife Judy and children Bailey Mueller, Delaney, and Mason Watkins), and Chris Watkins (wife Trish and children Nickolas Beck and Ryan Watkins).

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Jump the Moon Foundation and/or Cache Humane Society, both organizations were dear to Lucy's heart. A celebration of life will be held in North Logan and the date will be announced this spring.

We were fellow quilters. When I was making a Southwest colored quilt and I ran out of the fabric I had picked up in Arizona. I told her I need to something for the Border. She said "Do it yourself" paint it. So I followed her instruction and got some muslin and went to her house to learn how to do fabric art and color. It turned out amazing, we spent the next two hour talking and having coffee, something that Lucy enjoyed was hosting . She was such a light in my life and Cary was an acquaintance and friend to my husband, They played handball and we quilted. Sure going to miss her

What a great friend and personality, So shocked, did she have a funeral or having a memorial service?

We remember Lucille with fondness and love. David went to Logan High with her, she always helped with reunions; and I knew her from the quilting world, where we would see each other at shows or Art on the Lawn or at the gallery. She was so generous with her art and talents. What a lovely woman, she will be missed. We send our deepest condolences.
