Lucio Scollo Obituary

Lucio (Lou) Scollo, 95, of St Petersburg, Fla., formerly of New Britain, CT., died Monday, January 17, 2022 at Suncoast Hospice at Bay Front Health, St Petersburg. Lou was born in Summit, N.J., and was the son of the late Carmelo and Antonia (Cavallaro) Scollo. He was a longtime member of St Jerome Church in New Britain, CT. Lou was a devoted husband to Susan (Ingari) Scollo, who predeceased him in 2010. He was a proud member of The Greatest Generation, having served his country honorably as an Army M.P. in Japan during WWII. After returning to the States, he began a long career as a Tool and Die Maker, working at North and Judd and Kern Special Tool for many years before retiring from Okay Industries in 1992 as a recognized and respected master of his craft. Lou loved playing his guitar, banjo and mandolin in his spare time, sharing his love for music throughout most of his life and even into his nineties. Lou and his wife were longtime and active members of the Bucks and Does Square Dancing Club, which they greatly enjoyed. He also would never miss a good card game and his friends always made sure he was able to get to the "Every-Thursday 9 and 5" sessions. Lou particularly embraced spending time with his family and friends. "Louie and Susie's" was always a favorite place to gather for holidays and family celebrations. His smile, sense of humor, warmth, compassion, patience and obvious love for life and for those he shared it with will be sorely missed by all who held him dear. Lou is survived by his children: Anthony Scollo and his wife Sharon (Gindele) Scollo, of Mann's Choice, Pa., Marie (Scollo) White and her husband, Tom, Jr. of Bristol, CT., Sharon (Scollo) Deluca and her husband, Joe, Jr. of St Petersburg, Fla., Lawrence Scollo and his wife Diane (Duren) Scollo of Clearwater, Fla.; His ten grandchildren: Amanda and Hannah Scollo, Thomas White III, Matthew White, Timothy White, Nicholas Wolf, Carleigh Deluca, Lawrence John Scollo, Christopher Scollo and Diane Scollo; His four great-grandchildren: Roxanne White, Oliver Scollo, Joseph Wolf and Owen Wolf. Lou was predeceased by his brother Sam Scollo and his sisters Rose Ingari and Jennie Grasso. Funeral rites for Lucio will be held Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St., New Britain, CT.
