Lucretia Saller, 94, of Fremont, passed away at Valley View Health Campus November 9, 2025. She was born in Fremont on January 24, 1931, to Joseph and Frances (Novak) Celek. Lucretia was a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph High School. She worked for Eckrich in Fremont and celebrated her retirement after 19 years.
On August 29, 1953, she married Glenn F. “Lefty” Saller, and they celebrated 66 years of marriage until his passing on August 11, 2019.
Lucretia was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic church and was a member of Confraternity #6, with Mary Lou Stultz as the leader. Famous for her baking, Lucretia could make anything she saw out of a cookbook or magazine, with cookies and candies being her specialty. She loved giving away her baked goods, especially around the holidays. Lucretia loved Christmas, not only for the food she shared but for the time she got to spend with her family, who she cherished above all else.
Lucretia was a very meticulous woman as well, keeping an immaculate home and lawn. She loved being out in the sun and tending to the plants and flowers in her garden. For over 30 years, she and Glenn would winter at Fort Myers, FL, where she enjoyed relaxing walks along the beach.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Marcia (Steven) Goetz, David (Cheri) Mathews Saller, Lori (Timothy) Price all of Fremont, OH and Connie (Joseph) Swint of Toledo, OH; grandchildren: Brian, Pete, Kelli, Kyle, Monica, Amy, Mathew, Eric, Taylor; great-grandchildren: Cam, Izzy, Elise, Mady, Charlotte, Gemma, Laikyn, Everlie, Emerson, Dane, Peyton, and Jade.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ed, Stan, Vic, Joseph, Angela, Mary, Delores, and Stella.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Home In Stead Caregiving, her caregivers at Valley View, who she adored, and her special friend and caregiver, Mary Lou Stultz, for their care and dedication.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. A Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 AM at the church. Monsignor Tad Oxley will officiate. Lucretia will be laid to rest with Glenn privately at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice, Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools, or Donor’s Choice.
