Lucy Bellissimo Obituary

Lucy Bellissimo, born April 24, 1948, in Eisden, Belgium, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital in Pennsylvania. She was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments. Lucy was the beloved wife of Joseph Bellissimo, with whom she shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life in Latrobe, PA, raising their two children. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph; her son, Brian (Sarah) Bellissimo; and her daughter, Corrie (Joe) Mulcahy. Lucy was a proud and loving grandmother to her cherished grandchildren, Luke and Aidan. The daughter of the late Teodor and Maria Spasenyj, Lucy grew up in South River, NJ. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Vera Myzhevych and Helena Christi, but shared many treasured memories with her surviving sister, Nadia Spaseny. She also leaves behind many close nieces, nephews, friends, and their families. Lucy had a remarkable talent for creativity and design. She found immense joy in decorating, remodeling, antiquing, and refurbishing, transforming every space she touched into something beautiful and inviting. She loved traveling with her sister, Nadia; and daughter, Corrie, creating lasting memories on their adventures together. Winters were often spent in FL, with her husband, Joe, where they enjoyed the company of snowbird friends from across the country. A woman of strength and generosity, Lucy's kindness and vibrant spirit left an enduring mark on all who knew her. She was a dedicated supporter of The Salvation Army and believed deeply in helping others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army in her name. May Lucy's memory bring comfort to those who loved her and inspire acts of kindness in her honor. The MATTHEW X. MERLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 529 N. Chestnut St., Derry, PA 15627, 724-694-8331, is handling the arrangements for the family. merlinfuneralhome.com.

Dear Joe and Family,

We are so sorry to hear about your loss. It seems like just yesterday that our kids were young and Jim and Lucy shared rides to Montessori. Although we haven't been in touch in recent years, we remember fondly Lucy and your family. We hope that the love and support of your family and friends will help you through this most difficult time. We'll keep you in our prayers!

My sympathy to the family of Lucy Bellissimo. I met Lucy when we work together for a short period of time at the West dairy school. She was the secretary for Mrs. sheriff and I was an aide. Lucy was a wonderful and beautiful person. God bless you and your families.
