Lucy Jilot Obituary
Lucy helped her husband establish and develop Jilot Insurance, acting as co-owner and operator for many years. She also worked as a registered nurse for many years. Lucy loved art, gardening, birdwatching, and traveling around the world with her husband. She made a great cherry pie and had the honor of being Cherry Pie Queen at the Door County Fair.
Lucy was a long time and active member of St. Joseph Parish, volunteering in numerous capacities. She also ran a small orchard and planted thousands of trees.
Survivors include her eight children, Jeanne Buckingham, Oshkosh; Ron (Tammy) Jilot, Sturgeon Bay; Rose (Dan) Dyer, Green Bay; Theresa "Terri" (Bob) Starr, Sturgeon Bay; Frank "Joe" (Sally) Jilot, Sturgeon Bay; Susan "Susie" Schinkten, De Pere; Karen (Dan) Elick, West End, NC; Brian (Missie) Jilot, Sturgeon Bay; 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a brother, George (Melonie) Fellner; two sisters, Genevieve (Dan) Czekala; Dorothy (Dennis) Bournique; one sister-in-law Fyrn Jilot, Sturgeon Bay; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents; husband Frank; two sisters, Agnes (Norbert) Hansen and Marie (Paul) Laskowski.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, at St. Joseph Church in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Anthony Birdsall officiating. Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay on Sunday, Nov. 12, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm with a prayer service to be held at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of mass. Entombment will be in the Allouez Mausoleum.

To All My Jilot Cousins and Their Families,
I Am So Sorry to hear about the passing of Aunt Lucy. I hope that she was comfortable in her last days. Mom and Dad both passed in their sleep. No pain. There is something that I´d like to share with you all. I was sitting in Dad´s bedroom when he got this Huge Smile on his face. He was lying in bed and started reaching out with his right arm and hand into the air, straight in front of him. Then, he started a conversation (not to me). I asked him who he is talking to and trying to touch? He said, Frank and James were there. Can´t you see them? It lasted just briefly and he was so happy!! I think they were telling him not to be afraid. Just as Jesus says so many times in the Bible; "Fear Not". Afterward, I was thinking that I could feel a definite presence in the room at that time!! May God comfort you all during this time.
