Mark Sorenson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Forbes Funeral Home & Cremations - Sturgeon Bay on Feb. 17, 2026.
Mark Allen Sorenson, 58, of Clay Banks, passed away at his home in the town of Clay Banks on February 16, 2026. He met the adversity of his battle with cancer with courage and strength.

Mark was born on July 2, 1967, in Algoma to Virgil and Mae (Christianson) Sorenson. He grew up in Clay Banks and graduated from Southern Door High School in 1986. After graduation, Mark attended NWTC in Green Bay where he earned a degree in heavy equipment diesel mechanics.

He started his career working for Schartner Implement where he worked on tractors. Several years later, he took a position as a maintenance mechanic at Olsonite in Algoma. He later worked as a heavy equipment repairman for Holtger Brothers which involved traveling across several states. To finish his career, he moved into the manufacturing industry working for Wire Tech in Sturgeon Bay and MCC Label in Algoma.

Mark enjoyed hunting and spending time up north in Florence where he had a cabin. He also enjoyed UTVing and ice fishing. He especially enjoyed time with family and friends and had a very special bond with his nieces and nephews. Mark had a heart of gold and would give anyone "the shirt off of his back".

Survivors include his five siblings, Dianne (Jim) DeMeuse, Luxemburg; Richard Sorenson, Palm Coast, Florida and Clay Banks; Dennis (Maureen) Sorenson, Hobart; Gary (Gail) Sorenson, Forestville; Joanne Hicks, Clay Banks; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by in-laws, Sandy Sorenson and Troy Hicks and great nephew Isaac Sorenson.

Funeral Services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Forbes Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the town of Clay Banks Cemetery.

Special thanks to Unity Hospice especially Katie and Sarah, and to Pastor Peter Mannoja for all of their care and support.
