It is with great sadness that the family of Garret Hanson announce his sudden passing on Friday October 24th, 2025 at the age of 30. Garret passed away at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee WI of Burkitt's Lymphoma with his mother and sister by his side. He was born in Green Bay, WI, on August 6th, 1995, to Rob Hanson and Laurie Nordin.
Garret went to Southern Door High School and was an active member of the Boy Scouts where he became a life scout and went on several big adventures. He backpacked across Isle Royale, canoed down the Wisconsin river and spent a week at Glacier National Park. After high school he joined the Marine Corp with his primary MOS on the Helicopter Support Team. He served in the CLB-24 and provided support to the Marine expeditionary Unit while on the USS New York. While off ship he saw Israel, France, Djibouti, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, and Oman. While in his 4th year of service he received a secondary MOS as a shooting coach. After Garret's service with the Marines, he moved back to Green Bay WI where he attended NWTC and received his Gas Utilities Certificate. He drove a CAT Haul Truck for Riverview Construction after graduation. Garret also worked for Wisconsin Management Company, Greytone, and The Michaels Organization as a Maintenance Technician. His most recent job was an Amazon Delivery Driver.
Garret's hobbies included any kind of hunting or fishing. In 2020 Garret participated in his first Duck hunt with the Horicon Marsh Veteran Hunt. This was the best hunt he's ever participated in, and he found his passion for bird hunting that day. If Garret wasn't hunting or fishing, he was reading a good book or playing Xbox with his friends. He loved all things sci-fi and Star Wars and loved Sunday afternoon football in front of his TV. He was also working on his cooking and bread baking skills and spoke of it often. Garret loved watching live music at the Epic Center. Above anything his cats Danni and Leo were the most important things in his life.
Garret will be sadly missed by his Mother Laurie Nordin of Green Bay (Scott Champion), Father Rob Hanson of Algoma (Terri Olson-Hanson), Sister Michala Hanson and his brother Samuel Neuser both of Sturgeon Bay. Grandparents Richard and Rita Nordin of Bayfield, Mark and Rhonda Hanson of Sturgeon Bay, Great Grandma Gloria Vandermuese of Algoma, his aunts Renee (Mike) Albert of Bayfield, Michelle (Brian) DeGrave of Brussels, Corrine (Rick) Wisnicky of Forestville, Jessica (Todd) Daubner of Carlsville. Garret also had several loving cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his Great Grandparents Lloyd and Pauline Goldman of Bayfield WI, Richard and Elizabeth Nordin of Bayfield WI, Loyal and Muriel Hanson of Sturgeon Bay, and Francis Vandermeuse of Algoma WI.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Casey Delarwelle and the entire extended Delarwelle Family who loved Garret as part of their own. Also send a thank you to the numerous families, friends and community who supported the family through this difficult time.
Friends and family may call on Sunday November 2nd, 2025, at Ryan Funeral Home,305 N. 10th St, De Pere, from 10:00am until 12:00pm. We encourage Garret's friends and family to share a memory of Garret at his celebration of life.
