We have gathered to remember with loving thoughts Mother Lucy Ann Woodson Luster. Born on September 25th, 1934, in West Alley, Lucy Ann Woodson was the youngest of seven children, the baby and joy of her family. She was born to the late Mary Moore Price Woodson and the late John Thomas Woodson, Sr.

She accepted Christ at a young age (12 years old) at Salem Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Fields. She was a 1953 Graduate of the Old Merry High. She was the Glee Club Vice-President, a member of the daughters of the ELKS, and a Senior Choir Member.

She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Sherry Luster, Sr. on August 4, 1963. She worked throughout her community at the Historic Fox Restaurant, Johnson Café, the Jackson Compress, andat Jackson General Hospital in environmental services. No matter the setting in which you met her, Lucy Ann had a humorous magnetic personality and demeanor that made her truly unforgettable and enjoyable to be around.

Affectionally known to her children and grandchildren as (“Muh”), being a mother and raising her children was truly the pride and joy of her life. She was called (“Gi-Gi”) by her great-granddaughters whom she absolutely adored. She was loved and known by her nieces & nephews as (“Auntie LucyAnn”), and to others simply (“Ms. Lucy”). No matter what you called her, she was always willing to sacrificeand serve others, especially her family. She loved pink, which was her favorite color. She loved Hymns andBlues Music and watching her “Stories” every day on television. She loved to have fun and gathering for family events. She loved good food and sweets of all kinds were her favorite part of any meal. She always kept a very clean and tidy house; she loved pressing clothes. She lived by and taught her children the mantra, “If you do your Best, God will do the Rest!”

She was preceded in death by her two daughters, Minerva Woodson and Valerie Luster. She was preceded in death by her siblings: John Thomas Woodson, Jr., Alexander C. Price, Smith Woodson, James Woodson, Ola Mae Johnson, and FrancesHobson.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Mary L. Luster; her eldest son, Raymond Woodson of Lakeland, Florida; and her youngest son, Sherry Luster, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; her granddaughter whom she raised, Tashara Luster-Beasley ofMelbourne, Florida and her granddaughters: Maria (Terry) Murphy of Lakeland, Florida and Alexis Steedof Atlanta, Georgia; her precious great-granddaughters,Lacreshia Steed, Temaria Murphy, and Legacy Melody Beasley; one brother-in-law, Tommy Luster of Kensett, Arkansas; one niece, Phyllis Hunt and three nephews,James Estes, Leonard Johnson, Jr., and Eldridge Jr.(Cynthia) Hobson. She also leaves a host of great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends to cherish her memory and legacy.
