Emma Lucille "Lucy" Meyer, of Quincy, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at 2:04 p.m., surrounded by love and the echoes of a life well-lived.
Born at home on the family farm in Louisiana, Missouri, on September 8, 1935, Lucy was the cherished daughter of Elza and Mary Edna Edwards Griffith. Her early education began in a one-room schoolhouse, where she cultivated a lifelong love of learning and community. She graduated from Louisiana High School in 1953, where she shined as a drum majorette, a member of the girls' basketball team, student council, homecoming court, and was crowned the yearbook's Alamo Queen.
On May 29, 1955, Lucy married the love of her life, Robert L. Meyer, in Quincy, Illinois. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three children: Mark, Tim, and Debra. Lucy's devotion to her family was unwavering, and her warmth, humor, and grace touched everyone who knew her.
Lucy's professional life reflected her dedication and compassion. She worked in retail at Shopper Fair and Kirlin's Inc. and later served with pride at the Illinois Veterans Home until her retirement. Her commitment to service extended beyond her career. She was an active member of the Ellington PTA, the Illinois Veterans Home community, P.E.O. Chapter MK, and Chaddock Home.
Lucy loved music, laughter, and the simple joys of life. Her home was always filled with melody and kindness. She was a loyal friend, a loving mother, and a beacon of strength and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her son, Timothy C. Meyer of Quincy, IL; daughter, Debra L. Meyer of Saint Charles, IL; grandchildren, Emilee E Adolph; Ryan R. Adolph; niece, Mary Kathleen (Griffith) Schoenekase of Quincy, IL; and nephew, Charles Dooley Griffith of Dallas, TX.
Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert L. Meyer; her son, Robert Mark Meyer; her parents; and her brother, Charles R. Griffith. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chaddock – Donor's Choice, honoring Lucy's lifelong commitment to helping others.
A celebration of Lucy's life will be held at a later date, where stories will be shared, music will play, and her spirit will be remembered with love and laughter-just as she would have wanted.
