Lue McClaine Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cunningham Mortuary & Cremation, Inc. - Fayetteville on Dec. 16, 2025.
Lue Helen Clark McClaine, age 93, peacefully transitioned on Monday, December 15th, 2025. She was born in Augusta, Georgia, to the late Carrie Lue Darby and Eugene Clark.

Lue Helen's life was one of love, faith, service, and resilience. She was first united in marriage to Willie Lee Dorr, and to that union two sons were born, Eric and Robert Dorr. As life continued, she met John Edward McClaine. From the moment he first laid eyes on her, it did not take long for him to sweep her away, marry her, and take her to Naples, Italy. During their years abroad, she gave birth to three children: John McClaine (preceded her in death), Pamela Smith (preceded her in death), and Thomas Michael McClaine.

After several years overseas, Lue Helen relocated to Fayetteville, North Carolina, where her final blessing, Mark McClaine, was born.

Looking back on her many accomplishments, Lue Helen was a woman of remarkable talent and discipline. Along with her siblings, she learned to play the piano-a requirement established in their youth. Her spiritual life was evident early on, as she was baptized under Pastor T. C. Cook. Mrs. McClaine was an excellent homemaker, a dedicated entrepreneur, and a woman of vision, establishing several business contracts throughout Fayetteville.

She often spoke of her deep love for evangelism and her desire to feed those in need. Helen understood that people were hungry-both physically and spiritually. She was a philanthropist in her own right, touching countless lives, including many veterans whom she led to Christ. She also enjoyed a lengthy membership at Lewis Chapel Baptist Church. Moving forward, she begin to faithfully attended Deliverance Temple, where she was lovingly known as "Mother," served in Sunday School, and was a teacher of God's Word.

Lue Helen will always be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and servant of the Lord. As Jesus said, "Feed my sheep," and she did-faithfully feeding them with both food and the Word.

She was preceded in death by husband, John E. McClaine, two sisters Emma Jean Carr and Ola Bell Robertson, one son John McClaine Jr, one daughter Pamela Smith (Donavon), one grandson Tray Bowden. She leaves to cherish her memory one loving sister, April Clark White (Rev. White) her children Eric (Carol), Robert, Thomas Michael, and Mark (Francine). Grandchildren, Marquita (Albert), Tammy Bowden (Jermaine), Tiffany, Shayla (Chris), Brandon, Jonathon (Juanita). Along with a host of great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren a loving circle of devoted friends who became family.

Her legacy of faith, generosity, and love will

live on forever.
