Luigi Agostinelli Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 26, 2024.
Canfield - Luigi Agostino Agostinelli, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at his home in Canfield, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born February 29, 1940, in Pacentro in the province of L'Aquila, Italy, the eldest child to the late Carlo and Anna (Battaglini) Agostinelli.
In his younger years, Luigi worked at his family's farm in Italy. At the age of 15, he left Italy for many years to do construction work in Caracas, Venezuela. When he returned to Italy, he was called into and served in the Italian army. He immigrated to the United States in 1964 and later settled in the Youngstown area, where he met his wife, Angela, also from Pacentro.
Luigi began his career working at both Calex Corporation in Campbell and Valley Mould in Hubbard, until he then embarked for the next 40 years with General Motors in Lordstown until his retirement. He was a landlord, handyman, and landscaper for many. Luigi also worked as a cemetery mason for Temple El Emeth and was the caretaker for Temple Emanu-El Cemetery in Campbell.
He was an honorary member of the Youngstown Pacentrano Club, the Sons of Italy, and a founder and co-chairman of the Madonna di Loreto Festa in Youngstown along with his best man and friend, Carlo Rubino. Luigi enjoyed gardening and making wine, prosciutto and capicola, always sharing the fruits of his labor. He also enjoyed playing Morra and cards with his family and friends. He was a true patriarch for his family, and always made them a priority. With his outgoing personality, Luigi was a stranger to no one and offered his helping hand to everyone. He held life-long friendships from around the world.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 56 years, Angela (Serafini) Agostinelli, whom he married on July 20, 1968; his children Carlo Agostinelli of Columbus, and Susanne Agostinelli of Poland; the joys of his life, his two grandchildren, Vincent Agostino Agostinelli and Augusta Fox; his siblings Virginia Nepi of Pacentro, Italy, Tony Agostinelli of Youngstown, and Gemma Catalano of Poland; he also leaves behind brother and sister in laws, many nephews and nieces as well as their families.
Luigi was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Pierino and Laura (Restaino) Serafini, and other brother and sister in laws.
Luigi's family would like to extend a special thank you for the excellent care and compassion provided by both Dr. Nino Rubino and Luigi's caregiver, Robin.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Boardman.
Burial will take place at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
Family and friends are encouraged to offer prayers for the family and support via phone call, text, email or may visit the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com.
