Luigi Scicchitano Obituary

Luigi Gino Scicchitano
Luigi Gino Scicchitano, 79, a resident of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, at Stamford Hospital. He was surrounded with his loving family by his side. He was brave and strong throughout his illness.
Luigi was born on December 11, 1945, in Girifalco, Italy. Luigi was the son of the late Cosimo and Caterina Migliazza Scicchitano. He came to the United States at the age of fifteen and became a Barber. He worked at George's Barber shop in Springdale for 30 years. He met and married the love of his life, Angela Socci Scicchitano, on May 23, 1970 and started a family that he adored.
Luigi is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Angela Socci Scicchitano, his loving daughters, Gina Del Torto and husband Joe, daughter, Laurie DiPreta and husband Mike. His beloved grandchildren, Joseph, Adriana, Mia and Michael. His sister, Paola Ferraina of Darien and his brothers, Vincenzo Scicchitano and his wife Caterina of Norwalk and Agostino Scicchitano of Stamford. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Pasquale Scicchitano.
Luigi, known to his customers, close friends and family as Gino, was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His favorite times were spent with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed working in his beautiful garden, and taking care of his flowers and fig tree.
Family and friends will be received on January 22, 2025, from 9:00am-11:00am at Lacerenza Macari Family Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, at 11:30 am. Burial will follow immediately at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Stamford.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, stjude.org .
The family would like to thank Civita Care Center at Long Ridge for their care and compassion during his time there. Also to the Stamford Hospital Hospice and Palliative Medicine team for their compassion and care.
