Luis A. Garza, 67 years of age, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 28, 2024. He was born in Laredo, Texas on February 8, 1957 to Polo and Celia Garza. Luis was the “baby” of 13 children and grew up in Hebbronville, Texas, eventually graduating from Hebbronville High School in 1976. He later went to work for HEB for 32 years and eventually settled in Portland, Texas with his wife of 29 years, Mary Garza.
Luis was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, loved dancing in his younger years and married his sweetheart in Las Vegas.
Luis is survived by his siblings, Dalia Sanchez, Portland, Joe Garza, Portland, and Chuy Garza, Kingsville, Larry Garza, San Antonio, Lionel Garza, Killeen, and Lola G., Hebbronville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and his beautiful, beloved wife, Mrs. Mary Garza.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Winsteads' Funeral Home in Portland with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2024 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.
