Luis Otazu, 64, of Pasadena, CA, went home to be with the Lord on December 29, 2023.
Luis was born in Quezon City, Philippines in 1959 to Luis Otazu, Sr. and Elvira Otazu. He attended Eleanor Toll Middle School and Herbert Hoover High before majoring in 2D Graphic Arts at Cal State Northridge. Luis had a gentle, quiet spirit, and he was unselfish, with full of love to give.
Luis married the love of his life, Rowenna, on August 25, 1990 in Lakewood, California. Luis and Rowenna loved being parents to Kyle and Summer, born in 1996 and 1998.
The Otazus love being together, in particular, they love the water; so much so that Kyle and Summer spent over 15 years each swimming competitively and bridged over to surfing after college. They also love to camp. Refugio State Beach in Santa Barbara is their annual camp hangout location: fireside, surfing, and the outdoors!
Luis loved God and his family with all of his heart. One of his favorite verses was Joshua 24:15, "As for me and my family, we will serve the Lord."
Luis worked in the Consumer Products, Games and Publishing at Walt Disney Studios for 28 years. He was committed to his career and his team. He loved the creative energy that permeated the campus. Lion King was an epic project for him at the start of his career at Disney.
Luis was also an active member of Fellowship Monrovia Church, devoting his time and energy to his life group and the men's group, Rock Solid.
We couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, friend, brother, and son, and will miss Luis every day. He will always be remembered for his gentleness and sense of humor, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Luis is survived by wife, Rowenna; son, Kyle; daughter, Summer; parents, Luis Sr. and Elvira; sisters, Cherry and Joy; and brother, Ed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 3:00 p.m. at Christ Church Sierra Madre, 170 W Sierra Madre Blvd, Sierra Madre, CA 91024. A wake will be held the evening prior, on Friday, January 19th at 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m, also at Christ Church Sierra Madre, 170 W Sierra Madre Blvd, Sierra Madre, CA 91024. An informal service, Family Reflection Time is at 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
