LuJean 'Jeanie' Deichert

LuJean 'Jeanie' Deichert, 67, of Mandan, ND, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Miller Pointe in Mandan, ND. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 8, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan, ND, with Rev. Mark Aune as the celebrant. Jeanie will be laid to rest at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 3:00-5:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan, with a Women of the Moose Ritual starting at 4:45 PM and a Rosary/Parish Vigil following at 5:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.

LuJean Renee Johnson was born on January 6, 1957, to Merelyn Allan and Lois (Anderson) Johnson. Jeanie was raised and educated in Maddock, graduating in 1970. She moved to Bismarck, where she earned an associate's degree in marketing from Bismarck State College. After graduating, Jeanie began her career as a retail lighting associate at Border States Electric. On December 1, 1989, she married Peter Deichert Jr. at Corpus Christi Church in Bismarck, ND. Jeanie cherished her role as a stay-at-home mom, raising their son Peter Adam Deichert III until he reached junior high. She resumed her career at Front Street Lighting until her retirement.

Known for her vibrant personality, Jeanie was the life of the party, always generous and caring. She was active in many groups, including the homemakers, book club, and the Moose Lodge. Deeply rooted in her faith, Jeanie was also a member of the Bis-Man Serra Apostolate, Catholic Daughters, and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling with Pete, visiting Hawaii several times, exploring Europe, and working on their US bucket list.

Jeanie is survived by her husband Pete Jr. of Mandan; son, Peter Adam (Kirsten) Deichert of Bismarck; grandson, Peter Barrett Deichert IV; her sister, Deanna Johnson of Maddock, ND; brother, Mark (Sherri) Johnson of Casselton, ND; and her nephew, Christopher (Heather) Johnson of Fargo.

Jeanie's love for children led her to volunteer for many years with the Church of St. Joseph's youth group. Fondly known as "Gramma Lu," she was an adopted grandmother to many, including River and Canyon Neigum, "Jakie" Bohrer, and Edith and Ginny Martinek.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Merelyn Allan and Lois Johnson and her niece, Tiffany Johnson.

Jeanie's friendly, outgoing personality touched many lives. She will be remembered as a humble, deeply caring friend who will be greatly missed in her community.
