Luke De Bruin Obituary

Luke Charles De Bruin, 25, of Leola, went home to be with Jesus on November 28, 2025. Born in Harrisburg, Pa, he was the beloved son of Troy and Amy (Underwood) De Bruin.

Luke worked for Ebersole Brothers Construction in high school. He was awarded the Mike Rowe Work Ethic scholarship to attend Thaddeus Stevens, graduating in 2020. He then worked for Spring Garden Electric becoming a foreman. Luke excelled in working with his hands and could do anything around the house. Birthday presents for his mom became returning home to finish all the honey do list items his dad could not do.

Luke enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, trips to the cabin, Wellsboro, and National Parks with family and friends, and UFC fights and Jiu jitsu. He was a Detroit Lions and Michigan football fan with his Dad. Luke was a loving protector of his mother and his four sisters who surrounded him, two older and two younger. Over the last year he greatly enjoyed spending time with his girlfriend Maddie.

Luke, like all those who trust in Jesus, was a saint—one set apart for and belonging to God because Jesus loved him and lived and died and rose again for him and the Holy Spirit united him to Christ by faith. And, like all other beloved children of God, Luke was a saint who suffered and a saint who sinned. Those who know him would have witnessed varying degrees of each in his life. We are grateful to have seen the saint reflection growing more and more in recent months, as he had returned to worship with us at Proclamation, the church he helped plant. We are now comforted to know that Luke is still a saint, but he no longer suffers and he no longer sins. He has seen the face of his Savior and been made whole, reunited with his little brother Anthony, and they now rejoice together free from all sorrow in God’s presence, with God’s people, in God’s place, forever, where one day we will join them.

In addition to his parents, Luke is survived by four sisters who dearly loved him: Alayna, Molly (husband Mikey), Lydia, and Ella. Also surviving are paternal grandmother, Susan De Bruin of Lancaster and maternal grandparents, Mel and Janice Underwood of Conestoga. Luke was preceded in death by his brother Anthony and his grandfather Charles.

A service of Resurrection Hope will be held at 10am on Saturday, December 13, at Kraybill Mennonite School, 598 Kraybill Church Rd, Mount Joy, PA 17552. The family will greet guests informally following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Proclamation PCA—Benevolence Fund, PO BOX 526, Mount Joy, Pa, 17552 or www.proclamationpca.com/give
