Lula Faye Reaper

Lula Faye Reaper left this world, for her heavenly home in the early morning hours of September 06, 2024. Lou, as many friends and neighbors knew her, was born in Little Rock, AR in February 09, 1932 to the late Luther Holder and Ruby Honeysuckle Burroughs. Growing up she was no stranger to hard work. She worked along side her mother in the cotton fields, and taking care of her two younger sisters. This marked the beginning of what would become a lifetime of taking care of children. She was more like a second mother to her two sisters, Ava Holder Todd and Mary Holder Catenacci. 

At the age of 18, she became a mother to her daughter Rebecca "Becky" Stafford King. In 1966, she met her late husband Prince Reaper. The two married on November 12, 1966, and she moved to Hickory Flat where she fell into place as a Farmer's wife. Prince was a package deal, and she gracefully took on his two children, Timothy Butch, and Debbie Gale. Tim, a rotten 10 year old boy, lived with the newlyweds and soon came to love his new mom. She took care of her family and made their house a home. She was a homemaker, and excelled at her job, although country living was a learning curve for her. Like all things she quickly picked feeding farm animals, gardening, and making something out of nothing. 

Prince and Lou loved all kids and opened their home to many foster kids over the years. Fred Spears came to live with them in November of 1980, and became one of their own. 

At the age of 35 she secured her heavenly home, and accepted Jesus Christ. She was faithful to serve in several areas of the church from piano player to Sunday School teacher. She loved to share Jesus with everyone she came in contact with. It is safe to say that every kid in Hickory Flat has sat on "Nanny's" piano bench as they sang " This Little Light of Mine."

In the dash between 1932 and 2024 she shaped the lives of her children: Becky, Tim, Debbie, and Fred. Her Grandchildren Stacy and Pete, Allen and Melissa, Amy and DJ, Vanessa, Fallon and Dusty, Samantha and Justin, Haley Reed, Bryan and Brianna, and Dillon. 17 Great Grandchildren, and 13 Great Great Grandchildren, and one Great Great Grandson, Kantyn, whom was waiting for her in heaven. 

Two things she wanted all of us to do was accept Jesus, and take good care of her obese beagle, Sally. 

Visitation will be at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home on Monday, September 9, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at New Bethel Baptist Church in Floral, AR on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at Olive Branch Cemetery.
