Lula Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary - Dothan on Jan. 19, 2026.
Lula Mae Williams was born on May 30, 1933, in Pinkard, AL. Never knowing her mother or father, she was raised with love by her grandmother, Katie Trawick. She migrated to New York City as a young woman, where she raised her two children, truly by the sweat of her brow. She completed her HS education in NY and worked for Equitable Life Insurance for many years, going on to work for NYC Police Department, from where she retired after 25+ years, with several commendations for outstanding service. She retired to Dothan, AL, where she resided until her death.

Retirement did not hold her hostage – you could find her volunteering at Southeast Health Hospital, where she cheered patients and shared her faith, or busy around the church, which was her first love in service. She loved the Church and served on the choir, as an evangelist sharing her love of Jesus Christ to all she met. She was also fiercely family oriented. She was known especially for never missing any of her family reunions where she was often the life of the party!

She loved reading her Bible, traveling, and cooking. Lula was known for those cooking hands – her lavish holiday dinners, Swedish meatballs and German Chocolate cakes!

On January 14, 2026, Lula passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long illness at the Ozark Rehabilitation Center in Ozark, AL. An outstanding, thoughtful and caring friend, she leaves to cherish her memory her son, Hubert (Sheila), Daughter, Linda Williams-Evans, Grandchildren, Vernique Evans, Christopher Evans, Danielle, Alex, DeQuan Williams, Joshua Williams; Great Grandchildren - Elias, Christina, Christian, Kaden, Michael, Jr. Kayla, Ava, DeQuan, Jr. and a host of loved ones and countless friends.

We release her into the Hands of her living Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, knowing He has received her with love, eternally.
