Lupe M. Martinez, age 79, of Holland, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
Lupe was born in La Villa, Texas on July 20, 1946. When she was 12 years old her family moved to Holland, Michigan. She worked at Walter's Garden for many years. She loved gardening and her perennials. Her Japanese Maple in her backyard always held a special place in her heart. Lupe was a lifelong member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She relied on God for everything and lived a simple life. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Lupe also had an easy smile; she was known for her quick wit and humor. Over the years Lupe had a variety of animals, she loved them all. She especially loved her doves. You could often find her playing loteria and regular bingo with her friends. She was loved by everyone that knew her and she will truly be missed.
Lupe is survived by her children, Leonardo (Angela) Martinez, Leonardo, Patricia Martinez and Gerber Rodriguez Cruz, Tony (Zoey) Martinez and Benjamin Martinez; sisters, Lusinda Amaro, Angelica Martinez, Josefina Valdez, Annabella Amaro, Alicia Martinez, Bertha Leticia Villareal and Maria Esthela Trevino. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
Lupe was preceded in death by her husband, Leonardo Martinez; brother, Manuel Amaro.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, on Wednesday, August 20, at the Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street, Holland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, on Thursday, August 21, at 11:00am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 171 West 13th Street, Holland. Father Luis Garcia presiding. Interment will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery, Holland.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 171 West 13th Street, Holland, Michigan 49423.
Professional service entrusted to the Mulder Chapel.
