Luther Childress, age 87 of Canmer passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at the Baptist Health Hardin Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was a member of Savoyard where he was a Deacon. He was retired from Gates Rubber Company. He enjoyed visiting with people and working in the yard. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He got great enjoyment out of being with his family and being a big presence in their lives. 

He was the son of the late Edmond Childress and the late Susie Glass Childress. 

He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Childress; one brother Carl Childress.

He is survived by one son, Gary Childress (Bonnie), Magnolia, KY; one daughter, Karen Guffey (Bro. Wes), Canmer, KY; five grandchildren, Jacob Guffey (Hannah), Kayla Goodman (Lee), Rachel Owens (Caleb), Hope Arterburn (Jason), and Kyle Childress (Caitlynn); 15 great-grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Flora Murray and Betty Sue Gober also survives.

The family will receive friends from 2:00- 8:00 PM CT on Monday, December 9, 2024, and again from 9:00- 11:00 AM CT on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CT on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Brooks Funeral Home with Bro. Wes Guffey and Bro. Jerry Bird officiating. Burial will follow at Three Forks Bacon Creek Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
