Flossie Avery Jewell, age 80 of Canmer, KY went to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. She was an active member at the Church In Canmer, since it was started, where she taught Sunday School, former treasurer, was active in vacation Bible School, and co-leader of the youth for many years. Mrs. Flossie loved the spring time and cultivating her flowers and garden, she was also an avid reader of 1,000's of books.
She was the daughter of the late William Richard Avery and the late Maude Margaret Meredith Avery.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Mike Jewell; her two brothers, Roy and Laymon Avery; a sister, Liddie Rosser; a daughter-in-law, Susan Jewell; three sisters-in-law, Teresa Avery, Dottie Avery, and Jo Ann Jewell.
She is survived by her two children, Myra Morgan and her husband Todd, Hardyville, KY and Deon Jewell and his wife, Laura, Greensburg, KY; seven grandchildren, Kelsey Jewell Smith (Rick), Canmer, KY, Candice Murphy (Derick), Hardyville, KY, Whitney Jewell, Canmer, KY, Tiffaney Jewell, Canmer, KY, Haley Defevers (Jonathan), Munfordville, KY; Isaiah Morgan (Corey), Hardyville, KY, and Riley Jewell, Greensburg, KY; 12 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Elena, Rosalie, Candice, Ceagan, Zeral, Jensen, Amelia, Hayward, Tanner, Callie, and Tate; five brothers, Walter Avery (Sue), James Avery (Beverly), Luther Avery (Jo), Lawrence Avery, and Bruce Avery (Brenda); several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.
The family will receive friends from 1:00- 8:00 PM CT on Monday, May 5, 2025 and again on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 8:00- 11:00 AM CT all at The Church in Canmer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CT on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at The Church in Canmer with Bro. Ronald Riordan and Bro. Deon Jewell officiating. Burial will follow at the Whickerville Cemetery.
