I knew Luther when he attended high school in St. Petersburg, FL. He was a great guy even then, strong, kind, courageous, an athlete and all around great guy. RIP Luther.

Mrs. Reynolds, Grace and Luke.....I was blessed with the privilege to work with your husband/father, when we served together in the Montgomery County Police Depart. I could fill page with the virtues of Luther, but as his family, you know well. I briefly met Chief Reynolds at an event held at the Synagogue Emanu-El several years ago. I shared a story with him about a child I was concerned about who was afraid to go outside because of the crime in his neighborhood. Chief Reynolds astounded me by his obviously real concern, taking the time to listen carefully, asking me where the child lived and said he would have an officer contact me. (And he did!) I remarked to my sister who was with me that I thought he was almost too nice to be a chief of police. But he wasn´t. He was an amazing human being. The kind of person we all should strive to be, and taken way too soon. Charleston has really big shoes to fill. I kind of feel sorry for the next person who tries to fill them because they are really BIG shoes. Rest in Peace, Chief Reynolds.

Mrs. Reynolds, I don't know if you'll remember me. I've known chief for a while. I met you at the Harvard event last year. He had such a profound impact on my professional and personal life. I love that man. My heart goes out to your family and everyone that this man affected.

To Mrs. Reynolds and family,
It was an honor to know Luther for the short time he was with us in Charleston. He was a true servant of the Lord and the people. To have him join me on the Cooper River Bridge last July 4th, was an incredible honor. He impacted thousands and was a true leader and patriot. My family and I have been praying for your comfort and peace. Luther has a place on the right side of the Lord now. Bless you all.

To the Reynolds family, I am so sorry for your loss, some people we never get to meet personally, but you hold them dear in your spirit . I've never met him personally, but to know of him, was good enough for me. He seemed to be an honest, and faithful servant, a true man of God. There are no words to ease the pain of death but, God will see the family through this most difficult time. Stay strong and be encouraged!!!
