Amy Luverne Williams passed away November 10, 2025, at her home in Valparaiso, FL.
She was born on July 16, 1929, in Noma, FL to the late Joseph Jonas and Banion Vanlandingham Whitaker. Luverne loved her five children and enjoyed having company. She loved for her children to come and stay with her for days at a time and hated to see them leave. She kept up with her high school classmates weekly for over seventy years, which is evidence of her caring spirit. One of her favorite family activities was having family fish fries, as that combined her love of family and the fish that they caught. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Niceville, where she volunteered at the church’s Bargain Box. She loved flowers and plants and worked in her yard as much as she could.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Devane Williams; son, Hugh Brian Williams; and ten siblings, Curtis, Charlie, Herbert, Robert, Lavada, Hiram, Hoyt, Frank, Floyd, and Mattie Lou.
She is survived by four children, Carl (Joan) Williams of Florida, Stanley (Shirley) of North Carolina, Dennis (Linda) Williams of Florida, Anita (Dennis) Townsend of Florida; eight grandchildren, Keith (Ashley) Williams, Curtis Williams, Amy (Colby) Jackson, Chad (Roxanne) Williams, JaeDe (Michelle) Williams, Amber (Stephen) Prickett, Clinton (Anna) Townsend, and Malori Townsend; twelve great-grandchildren, Noah, Anna, Avery, Will, Reid, Kennedy, Reddeck, Everette, Merideth, Jacob, Ander, and Teddy.
The family extends special thanks to hospice nurse, Julie Foster, and dear friend, Verna Sesso, for their special love and care of their Mother.
Funeral service will be 12 noon, Monday, November 17, 2025, at Red Hill United Methodist Church, Bonifay, FL, with a visitation from 10:30-11:30 AM. The service will be officiated by Pastor Jerry Moore of Carmel Assembly of God Church, Bonifay, and retired United Methodist Church Minister, Roger Whitaker. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Community Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna, FL directing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Peoples Hospice at Peoples Foundation of Northwest Florida, INC - 213 E. Wright St., Ste. B, Pensacola, FL 32501; https://choosepeoples.com/foundation/.
