WATERBURY- Luz Rodriguez, a beloved mother, grandmother and devoted member of the Catholic Church, and cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the age of 78.
Luz was born on May 3, 1946 in Puerto Rico into a large, close-knit family with 23 siblings. Luz’s life was a testament to her deep faith, her boundless love for her children, and her unwavering commitment to her community. Luz was the proud mother of five children, whom she raised with love, wisdom, and a strong sense of family values. Her dedication to her children was evident in every aspect of her life, from the way she nurtured them with care and guidance to the joy she found in their accomplishments. A devout Catholic, Luz was deeply involved in her church community. She spent countless hours volunteering, participating in church activities, and supporting her fellow parishioners. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she instilled these values in her children, teaching them the importance of compassion, service, and love for others. Luz had a passion for cooking, which she shared with everyone she loved. Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting aromas of traditional Puerto Rican recipes, and she took great joy in bringing her family together over meals. Her delicious dishes were more than just food; they were expressions of her love and a way of keeping her family close. Her children and grandchildren will forever cherish the memories of gathering around her table, sharing laughter, stories, and the meals she so lovingly prepared. Luz’s home was always filled with warmth and hospitality, a gathering place for her large extended family. She cherished the moments spent with her loved ones, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Her love, strength, and kindness will be remembered by all who knew her. Luz Rodriguez’s legacy of love, faith, family, and her unforgettable cooking will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever guide and inspire her family.
Luz is survived by her five children, Marylou, Elizabeth, Edwin, Emanuel and Belinda, her 7 grandchildren, her multitude of siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held for Luz on Saturday, September 7, 2024, 9:00 a.m. at All Saints-Todos Los Santos Parish at The Shrine of St. Anne Church, 515 South Main St. Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. All those attending are kindly asked to meet directly at the Church. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Luz's family on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Luz’s name to All Saints-Todos Los Santos Parish.
