Lydia was born on January 1 st, 1943, and peacefully passed on November 15 th, 2025.

Those mourning our los, know that Lydia had an amazing life with a huge impact. She was married to Mike Hershey on May1, 1965, together they had two daughters, Michele McConnell and Renee (Jeromie) Marshall. Lydia was a passionate educator fighting for equality for special needs students. She taught at Bellevue ICS and Norwalk City Schools.

After retiring, Lydia and Mike moved to Petoskey, MI, where they enjoyed spending time with family and friends, making memories that will forever be cherished. In addition, Lydia enjoyed hobbies like knitting, soap making and interior decorating. She truly made every house a home.

She was a grandma to Drew (Will Hodge) and Devin Budd; great grandma to Dre and Walker Hodge. Lydia was always a part of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives, supporting them in anything they did growing up.

Lydia is survived by her twin brother, Luis (Sandy) Steinmetz; and preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Luis Steinmetz, along with bothers and sisters-in-law, Pat and Kathy Hershey, Ora and Sue Rolfe. Lydia will forever be missed by loved ones.

A celebration of Lydia's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
