Lydia Rios-Porch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jackson Funeral Residence of Jersey City on Dec. 12, 2025.
With deep love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Lydia Esther Porch, who was born in Puerto Rico on June 17, 1953, to the late Bernoldo Rios and Santa Morales (Antonio). From her earliest days, Lydia carried a light within her-one that would go on to brighten countless lives. She was educated at PS17 and Sarah J. High School in Brooklyn, NY, and later continued her studies at Pasadena City College in Pasadena, CA. Lydia dedicated many years of service to the Department of Revenue Services for the State of Connecticut. After relocating to New Jersey, she pursued a new chapter in telemarketing and later worked at Walgreens until her illness.

On November 20, 2016, Lydia married the love of her life, James Porch, and together they shared nine beautiful years of marriage. Lydia's heart was rooted in her love for family and her unwavering faith in God. Upon making New Jersey her home, she became a devoted member of Central Baptist Church in Bayonne, NJ, where she nurtured her spiritual walk and formed lasting bonds.

Lydia had a gift for making every occasion special. She adored the holidays, family gatherings, and every moment spent surrounded by those she loved. Her radiant smile, her joyful surprises, and the warmth she carried into every room made her a source of comfort and happiness. To know Lydia was to know kindness, laughter, and a spirit that lifted others.

Lydia is preceded in death by her parents, Bernoldo Rios, Santa Morales, and Antonio Morales. Her sisters, Lillian Varges, Lucy Rios, and Angilina Morales; her son-in-law, Michael Segman; her stepson, James Porch Jr.; her in-laws, Howard and Gertrude Porch; and five brothers-in-law, Samuel, Toussiant, Ruford, Garrison, and George Porch.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her children, Esther Segman and John Lumbano (Magdelina); her stepson, Andrew Porch; her brothers, Felix Rios, Tony Morales, and Charlie Morales; and her seven cherished grandchildren-Michael Fryer, Arianna Aidukas, Jayden Aidukas, Lyana Lumbano, Mya Lumbano, Layia Lumbano, and Elena Lumbano. She is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends whose lives were touched by her grace.

Lydia's presence brought love. Her laughter brought joy. Her life brought meaning. Though she is no longer with us in body, the love she planted in each of us will continue to grow. Her memory will forever be a blessing.
