Funeral Services for Lyle Gregersen of Starbuck will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck, MN. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 18th at the Starbuck Funeral Home and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Fron Cemetery.
Lyle Gregersen was born on October 14, 1950, in Canton, South Dakota to Bennie and Lu (Lottman) Gregersen. The youngest of three boys, he grew up and lived in Starbuck where he attended grade school and graduated from Starbuck High School, Class of 1968. After high school, Lyle moved to Montana for several years to follow his dream of being a cowboy where he worked cattle and enjoyed life out west.
Lyle and Sue were joined in marriage on July 25, 1987 at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. The couple made their home in Starbuck where they raised five daughters. Raising his daughters was the joy of his life until his 12 grandchildren came along and stole his heart. Lyle will be remembered as a kind man with a big heart, quick with a joke and always a smile (unless his beloved Minnesota Twins were down in the 9th).
In his free time, Lyle could always be found cheering on the Minnesota Twins, watching a John Wayne movie or listening and singing to classic country music. Lyle was very proud to be part of the Starbuck Community where he volunteered on the Starbuck Fire Department for over 20 years and was a lifelong member of Fron Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed pontoon rides, fishing, riding horses, ranching and playing cards.
Lyle died Sunday, September 15, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family under the care of Glacial Ridge Hospice. He was 73 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of Starbuck; daughters, Stacey (Chris) Stadsvold of Starbuck, Jessie (Paul) Papesh of Glenwood, Stacey (Rick) Guggisberg of Sioux Falls, SD, Marnie (Nick) Gugisberg of Glenwood and Tina (Jeff) Hagen of Naples, FL; 12 grandchildren, Alexis Guggisberg, Ashlyn Guggisberg, Emilia Schoen, Bailey Schoen, Jackson Stadsvold, Ella Hagen, Hunter Stadsvold, Zach Gugisberg, Austin Gugisberg, Donald Hagen, Ruby Hagen and Leni Hagen, a brother, David (Mona) Gregersen of Starbuck, sister-in-law Sharon Gregersen and many nieces and nephews.
