Lyle Clark Howard, age 84 of Butler, Missouri died Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Medicalodge in Butler, Missouri. He was born January 16, 1941 to Lyle B. and Marjorie Aleene Hubbard Howard in Butler, Missouri.

Lyle, one of three children, grew up in Bates County, Missouri. He graduated from Butler High School in 1959 where he played football all four years, after which he attended college in Pittsburg, Kansas. He spent four years in the Air Force, then began a career with Osage Valley Electric. Lyle worked as a lineman first, and moved up to a supervisor role and spent over 30 years there before he retired in 2000.

Lyle was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. One of his favorite things to do was spend time with his family, often treating them to his famous meal of meatloaf and shredded potatoes. Although Lyle was a private person, he took time to listen and talk with people. He was quick-witted and ornery–many times bringing laughs to the recipients of his pranks or through stories told. Lyle liked to eat Cheez-its and drink Pepsi and relished watching old westerns and football while eating his favorite dessert–chocolate pie. As we bid farewell to Lyle, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on through the memories we share and the impact he had on each of us.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Linda K. Howard of Butler, Missouri; two sons, Jay Howard and Michael Snethen and wife Grace all of Butler, Missouri; four grandchildren, Katie Howard, Tyler Howard (special friend Allison), Kayla Dodson (Logan) and Logan Snethen; three great-grandchildren, Rose, Violet and Ryder; one brother, Larry M. Howard and wife Kathleen of Thorp, Washington; one sister, Esther A. Hopcroft and husband Barry of Sedro-Woolley, Washington; and two nephews, Jed Howard and Jeff Adams. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sandra; second wife, Karen; and two sons, Michael and Chad Howard.
