Historic Bruce Funeral HomeLyle E. Kraft, 89, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Thursday, November 20, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South, with Pastor Tom Nyman and Pastor Gary Kraft Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Historic Bruce Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Reading Cemetery in Farnhamville, IA with Military Honors conducted by the VFW Post 1856 and U.S. Army Honor Guard. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.
Lyle was born June 3, 1936, in Lake City, IA, the son of Walter and Genevive (Bowles) Kraft. He attended high school in Lake City and continued his education at Community College. In 1955, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam war until his honorable discharge in 1957. On June 19, 1955, he was united in marriage to Carolyn L. Kennedy in Farnhamville. Lyle was a family man who adored his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, beekeeping, working and taking care of his cat: “Happy Kitty”.
Lyle is survived by his wife of 70 years: Carolyn L. Kraft of Fort Dodge; 3 sons: Marty Kraft of Lehigh, IA, Monte Kraft and wife Tami of Fort Dodge and Mitch Kraft and wife Shelly of Fort Dodge; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 siblings: Waneta Lewis of Riceville, IA, Gary Kraft of Missouri and Jerry Kraft and wife Sue of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 5 siblings: Leo Kraft, Bob Kraft, Betty Remsberg, Ronnie Kraft and Delbert Kraft.
