Lyle Barth Montgomery

Lyle Barth Montgomery, 77, of Amherst, went to be home with the Lord on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at his home.

He was born January 30, 1931, in Buena Vista, a son of the late Carl and Ruth Montgomery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Roger Montgomery, Thurman Montgomery and Kenneth Montgomery.

He was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Montgomery worked at Reeves Brothers in Buena Vista for 35 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a member of Oronoco Church of the Brethren in Amherst, Virginia, and loved the Lord with all his heart.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Floyd Montgomery; five children, Gary Montgomery, Sandra Montgomery, Teresa Heiser and her husband, Greg, Sheryl Chittum and her husband, Daryl, Elaine Walker and her husband, James; four grandchildren, Blaine Bane and her husband, Andy, Travis Montgomery, Victoria Walker, Mason Walker; three great-grandchildren, Tristen Laila, and Dakota; five siblings, Everett "Dickie" Montgomery and his wife, Linda, Edward "Curly" Montgomery and his wife, Elsie, Ronnie "Spoodle" Montgomery, Gaitha Fitzgerald and Glaida Kasmarzic.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2008, at Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Reverend Arnold Bradley and Pastor Larry Clark officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2008, at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Virginia.
