Lyle W. Rodman, 95, of Earlville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse. Leaving behind a life rooted deeply in family, farming, and faithfulness to the land he loved. He was born on June 20, 1930, in Hamilton, the son of Charles and Alice (Merkt) Rodman. He was a graduate of Earlville school, class of 1949. On June 28, 1958, he married the love of his life, Faith Wyant. Together they shared many devoted years of marriage and built a life centered around faith, family, and hard work. She predeceased him on September 16, 2025.
As a boy and throughout his life, Lyle's favorite place to go when he needed solitude was the horse barn. Horses were not just livestock to him, they were companions. His first love was ponies, especially his cherished black team, Pixie and Katie. He proudly drove them in parades and at horse shows. Also, at family reunions he delighted in hitching them up to take relatives for rides. Later in life, his love grew to include his Clydesdales, Babe and Belle, which carried on the tradition of family wagon rides. Lyle took great pride in being a multigenerational dairy farmer. He especially enjoyed working the land in his John Deere 3020 tractor. His dedication to the land and to his animals reflected his steady character and strong work ethic. At the age of 91, Lyle retired from farming-though in truth, farming never really retired from him. His legacy lives on in the fields he tended, the horses he loved, and the family he so proudly guided. Lyle was a lifelong member of the Earlville Conservation Club and was active in the NYS Draft Horse Association, as well as the NY Farm Bureau. He took great pride in supporting the agricultural community and preserving the farming way of life he so cherished. He was a founding member and pillar of New Life Church in Randallsville, where his faith guided his life.
Lyle is survived by his children; Kelly and Corey Hoover of Kernersville, NC; and Trevor and Pam Rodman of
Earlville, NY; grandchildren, Megan Rodman (fiancé Justin Holmquist) of Hamilton, Sarah Rodman (Derick Miller) of Earlville, and Jack Rodman of Earlville, a brother James Rodman, of Cicero, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
