Lyman Galloway Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Lyman Goodwin Galloway, a proud veteran, dedicated public servant, and beloved member of the Pikeville community, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025. Born in Wilson County on April 16, 1938, he was the son of the late Lloyd Fitzhugh Galloway and Martha Wheeler Galloway.
In addition to his parents, Lyman was preceded in death by his wife, Merina "Pat" Galloway; son, Randy Lee Galloway; brother, Lloyd Fike Galloway; and sister, Naomi Gray Bass.
Lyman is survived by his son, Rickey Allen Galloway and wife, Patrice of Pineville, Louisiana.
Born with a heart for service and a deep love for his hometown of Pikeville, Lyman spent his life giving back to the people and the place he cherished most. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for 22 years, including multiple tours in Vietnam, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him. Lyman also earned the distinguished Flying Cross for his bravery in combat.
After retiring from military service, Lyman returned home to Pikeville, where he continued his commitment to service in a new way-this time to his local community. He served faithfully as a town commissioner and later as mayor pro-tem, always striving to make Pikeville a better place for everyone. His leadership was marked by integrity, dedication, and a true passion for civic duty.
Lyman was also a beloved local business owner. For many years, he owned and operated Pikeville Florist, where he shared beauty, kindness, and a personal touch with each arrangement. Through the florist shop, Lyman became part of many local celebrations, milestones, and moments of comfort.
Lyman had a natural gift for making friends wherever he went. He never met a stranger, and he loved to strike up a conversation with anyone-whether it was sharing stories, offering advice, or simply checking in on someone's day. His conversations were full of humor, warmth, and genuine interest.
A graveside service to celebrate Lyman's life will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Pikeville Cemetery at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home.
