Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Lyman P. Martin, 82, who passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025. Rev. Dustin Miller will officiate services. Interment will take place immediately following the service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation hours will be observed at Walters Funeral Home on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and resume on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Lyman is survived by his wife of 35 years, Alice Beaty Martin of Lafayette; one daughter, Monica Leach and her husband Steven of Keene, NH; two sons, Tevin Martin and his fiancé Judy Lapeyrouse of Gheens, LA, and Mariah Martin and his wife Starlyn of Lockport, LA; two brothers, Don Martin and his wife Patricia of Houston, TX, and Clarence “Junior” Martin of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Jason McBroom and his wife Heather, Joshua Martin and his wife Kelly Anne, Justin Martin, Kimberly Darda and her husband Innerce, Chloe’ Leach, Hannah Martin, Rebekah Martin, and Elisabeth Martin; five great-grandchildren, Mason McBroom, Grayson McBroom, Jayden Darda, Avelia Darda, and Caden Martin Pitre; one uncle, Clayton Menard; and several cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vergie and Clarence Martin, Sr.; his sister-in-law, Patsy Martin; and several aunts and uncles.
Lymon had many interests. In his free time he enjoyed white tail hunting, golfing, fishing, oil painting, and knife making. He could often be found watching YouTube videos, learning how to do different things. He also enjoyed attending bible studies twice a week at The Oaks Nursing Home.
