Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 16, 2026 at 11:00 am in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Betty Smith, 78, who passed away March 12, 2026. Deacon Cody Miller will officiate the services. Visitation will take place prior to the funeral service between the hours of 8:00 - 11:00 am at Walters Funeral Home.
Interment will follow the service in Gallant Fields, the exclusive veteran's section of Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include husband, Huey Smith of Lafayette; two children, Shana Sealy and her husband Richard of Lafayette, and Elliot Smith and his wife Crystal of Carencro; and one grandson, Luke Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alicia Guidroz and Dewey Thomas; and one sister, Dorothy Thomas Sonnier.
Betty was born and reared in the community of Scott. She lived most of her life in Lafayette, enjoying her time with friends and family, especially caring for her grandson. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Church and will be missed by those who loved her.
Pallbearers will be Elliott Smith, Richard Sealy, Luke Smith, and Dwain Gannard.
