Lynda Gail English Wilkerson
was born in Savannah, Tennessee on February 16, 1944 the daughter of the late Ralph English and Geraldine Moffett Bradford.
Lynda grew up in Savannah, Tennessee with many friends and family. She excelled in school and church. While in high school she was voted Homecoming Queen and most popular along with winning several beauty pageants. After high school, she moved to Memphis to attend the Memphis School of Business. Lynda then moved to Birmingham, Alabama for a short time where her two children were born. Life then moved her to Florence, Alabama where she raised her two children and spent over 25 years. She was a passionate business owner in Florence, Alabama of an interior design store named SugarPlums. Lynda eventually closed her business and retired after her first granddaughter was born. Once retired, she moved back to Birmingham, Alabama to be closer to her first granddaughter along with her children. She was kind, loving, and very caring. Lynda was a devoted wife, mom, grandmother, and friend. Her four grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she loved spending every second with them. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord, and she led her children along with many others to Christ. Lynda was a member of Faith Tabernacle in Florence, Alabama and Church of the Highlands in Birmingham, Alabama. She made everyone feel special and was a truly special person herself. Her family finds peace knowing she is in Heaven as well as being reunited with her father who died when she was only 13 years old. Lynda was a bright light in such a dark world. She is loved by so many and will be missed dearly.
Lynda departed this life on Sunday, December 15, 2024 in Birmingham, Alabama, at the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 29 days.
She is survived by her children, Deana Christian (George) of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, and Jeff Wilkerson (Hillary) of Hoover, Alabama; grandchildren, Catherine Christian, Lauren Christian, Greer Wilkerson, and Ansley Wilkerson; and her sister, Pat Jordan.
Lynda was preceded in death by her father, Ralph English; mother, Geraldine Bradford; stepfather, Travis Bradford; and sister, Kay Pickett.
