Lynda White, age 82, passed peacefully from this world into Heaven on October 24, 2025 at 11:25pm at Allisonville Meadows. She was born to Franklyn (Kenneth) and Margaret Mackenzie on September 9, 1943. She grew up in Muskegon, Michigan, graduating from Muskegon High School in 1961. She moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1961 where she lived the rest of her life.

She was the mother to two daughters, Evelyn (Evie) Jacobs of Anderson and Patricia White of Indianapolis. Church was always a priority for her. During her adult life, she attended Calvary Wesleyan, Eastlawn Wesleyan, Cicero Wesleyan, Lone Oak Wesleyan and Lawrence Apostolic Church. As a member of the Wesleyan Church, Lynda looked forward to Family Camp each year in Frankfort, IN.

She worked at many different jobs during her lifetime. Her favorite jobs were Blue Bird Bakery, Bernsen Jones, the Wesleyan Church Headquarters (retired in 2004) and finally at Precious Life Daycare (retired in 2021). She was a hard worker, attentive to details and always on time. While her daughters were in elementary school at IPS #113, Lynda was also active in the PTO.

She is survived by her daughters Evelyn (Jon) Jacobs of Anderson IN and Patricia White of Indianapolis IN, cousins that she identified as brothers Jerry (Anita) DeCoster of Phoenix, AZ and Dan (Rosemary) DeCoster of Muskegon MI. Lynda also had 6 grandchildren Thomas (Christine) White of Anderson IN, Abigail Jacobs of Tipton IN, Stephen Jacobs of Anderson IN, Skyler Winslow of Indianapolis IN, Mary Jacobs of Anderson IN and Shelby Winslow of Indianapolis IN and 3 great grandchildren Liam and Layla White, Oliver Pickett.

Her favorite pastimes were attending and watching sports. Whether it was the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, or Chicago Cubs, she was ready to have a conversation about what the seasons were looking like and whether the playoffs were possible. Additionally, she loved attending ANY sport that involved her grandchildren or great grandchildren. She attended numerous football, soccer, and baseball/softball games. She also spent a great deal of time at cross country and track meets. Cheering on her family was a highlight on any given day. Family was her priority.

The past 2 ½ years have been a struggle for Lynda. She fought the good fight. There were at least three occasions where the doctors were not sure she would pull through but she proved them wrong each time. She kept the faith. She felt every prayer that was prayed for her and finished her race peacefully. She is now with Jesus, hearing Him say, “Well done my child!”

She was preceded in death by her parents Franklyn and Margaret Mackenzie, sister Delores Kesckes, brother John Mackenzie, nephews Eric Kesckes and Brett DeCoster, son in law Francisco (Frank) Winslow, aunts and uncles and one of her best friends Judy Shuffitt.

The family appreciates the staff of Majestic Care in Connersville, Majestic Care in McCordsville, Allisonville Meadows as well as the Community Health Hospice for all their care of Lynda. She was in great hands, and we are so grateful!

Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation to celebrate Lynda’s life on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 11am – 1pm at The Life Church (previously Lawrence Apostolic Church) in Indianapolis IN. A Celebration of Life Service will start at 1pm.
