Lynette Bowen Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 10, 2025.
Lynette Babcock Bowen, affectionately known as Net Net, of Ft. Myers, FL, passed away on November 2, after a brief battle with a terminal illness.

Lynette was born in Charlottesville, VA and was the oldest of three girls. She graduated from Old Dominion University with a B.S. in Psychology in 1977 and an M.S. in Guidance and Counseling in 1979. She loved her career of helping others, and worked almost right up until her death.

Lynette was predeceased by the love of her life, husband Gary Pascal Bowen, to whom she was married for forty years. She was also predeceased by her parents Robert and Alma Babcock. She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Babcock (Raymond) and Della Babcock Hall (Barry), as well as nieces Brady Johnson and Allie Hall, and nephews Christopher Hall and John and Matthew Bowen.

Lynette will be most remembered for her gentle and loving ways. She had an exuberant, joyful personality, always putting others' needs above her own. Always. She never forgot a birthday, graduation or anniversary, and she kept her loved ones well shod in L.L. Bean slippers!

Here is a memory that sums up who Lynette was: one year for her birthday Gary gave her the Sesame Street book "How to Be a Grouch." It was clearly something she did not know how to do, even after instruction from Oscar himself. Heaven has welcomed a new angel, our lovely Lynette.

The family is planning a private memorial.
