Lynette Johnson was born on December 19, 1954, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Edgar Jack and Barbara Jean Johnson. She departed life on Sunday, October 15, 2023, in Camden, NJ. Lynette was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, companion, and friend. She was affectionately known as “Pumpkin” by all that knew her. Lynette was educated through the Philadelphia School System. After moving to New Jersey, her magnetic personality made it easy for her to develop new and lifelong friends. She furthered her education and attended Star Technical Institute where she graduated in Business Administration. She was employed with Detroit Automotive in Marlton, NJ for over 10 years and later went on to become a leasing agent at Centennial Village Apartments. Born Catholic, she became a Christian at Living Faith Christian Center and often visited many churches. Lynette was known by family and friends for her beer and buttered crabs and her loaded pasta salad. She was a giving person and always gave to anyone in need. Partying with her family was always on her to-do list. Anyone that knew Lynette, knows she had a soft spot for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially Kahlil & Nah’jiere. Her favorite places to take them were Soupy Island, Clementon Park, & Chuck E Cheese.

 

She is proceeded in death by her parents Edgar Jack & Barbara Jean Johnson; her 1 and only son (her Snookums) Khalief “Kenny” Shabazz; her 2 brothers Tyrone Johnson & Edgar Johnson Jr; her husband Donald Rivers; her best friends Michelle Johnson-Daniels and “Cindy” Singleton.

 

She leaves legacy of love to her daughter Shirrell Johnson; her significant other Larry White; 8 grandchildren: Kahlil, Kahlia, Kashmere, Kyree, Qu’ran, Dustin Jr., Zakee, Aermoni; 8 great-grandchildren: Tyanna, A’Leeah, Nah’jiere, Rashon Jr., Kiyanna, Ty’Asia, Nevaeh, Kailani; 4 God Kids: Dustin “Gouder” Sr., Unika, Kenyan, Ryan; 5 sisters: Jacqueline (Leon), Carol (Ben), Rita (Bernard), Lisa (George), Shelley (Christopher); 1 Brother: Darryl (Vina); Best Friends: Marcia “Poochie” Little and

Brenda Ruff; 2 Special Nieces Tyresha and Starling; 2 Spiritual Sisters: Cheryl Brady and Michelle “Missy” Johnson-Brito; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends Pumpkin lived her life to the fullest and fought a long fight with cancer. She loved going to Cooper River Park to feed the birds. She was feisty but had a heart of gold. She departed this world at her daughter's home filled with love. She will be deeply missed by everyone.
